::FAMILIES TRANSFORMING THE WORLD
On Thursday 22 July, 7.30pm-9.00pm at the Thomas Carr Centre (Knox Room) 278 Victoria Pde, East Melbourne. The event will be launched by Archbishop Denis Hart and will be a great opportunity for parishes to hear how they can involved in this wonderful event in the life of the Church. Anyone interested in forming a group to recall and document the history of the Parish, please contact Sr Margaret.

::MINISTRY OF WELCOME
It is proposed to introduce “Greeters” to undertake welcoming of parishioners at each weekend Parish Mass, distributing bulletins etc. Please put your name on the noticeboard.

::Mary McKillop's Canonisation
17 October. Insight Tour has released a special tour including Official Entry Ticket into St Peter's Square to attend the Canonisation ceremonies. Departing 15 October. Itinerary also includes 24-day tour of Italy. Contact CTS Travel Williamstown on 9397 5282.

::Caring for those who Care
Information session for Maltese carers on their health and wellbeing, Friday 28 May 10:30am to 12:30pm at Maltese Regional Office, 14 Watt Street, Sunshine. Contact Paul on 9387 8922.

::PARISH FUNDRAISING
Our sausage sizzle fundraising was a success. We were able to raise $1,439.40. Many thanks to Dorothy Conversano, who coordinated the event, Tan Tan Bakery for the bread and bread rolls and Eddie & Wilma Marmur for peeling and slicing 10kg of onions on their own, the cooks and all volunteers, many from the Vietnamese community, who assisted to make it all happen.

::PARISH ANNUAL RAFFLE (COUPLES FOR CHRIST)
It’s on again soon! Volunteers wanted to assist selling tickets after Masses. Excellent prizes. Parish retains all funds from tickets sold. Please put name on the clipboard.


No Interest Loan Scheme (NILS)

Several years ago the No Interest Loan Scheme (NILS) was formed to provide loans for refugees struggling with their finances.

Loans of up to $1000 is made available and the recipients repaid their loans through direct debit on their bank account or from their Centrelink entitlements.

NILS helps our refugee brothers and sisters in various ways such as rent assistance, payment of bonds, payment of overdue accounts, or assist family members come to Australia, helping to give them a life of freedom. [Read more]


• Loaves & Fish Food Bank

A pastoral initiative enabling people on Health Care Cards to obtain fresh fruit and vegetables Wednesday to Friday each week from 2pm–4pm in the parish grounds.

A larger Food Bank operates on the first Friday of the month from 1:30pm to 4pm in the parish grounds.

Parishioners are invited to fill up the red bags with non perishable foods and bring to Masses the weekend before. Many thanks to our volunteers who have made this support service possible.


• Parish Playgroups

Successful weekly playgroups have been run in conjunction with the Westside Circus. It is hoped this can be continued in 2010.
